Porsche Motorsport History - Group C at Full Throttle

The Porsche 962 defined an era of fearless speed and innovation. In 1987, 962-09 fought hard — as seen in the top photo, a Norisring pit stop with Hans Stuck’s helmet just visible. That same season, Stuck helped develop Porsche’s pioneering PDK gearbox.

By 1988, preparations at Weissach (right/lower photo) saw the car loaded as one of three Le Mans entries. The 962 embodied Group C’s spirit: efficiency, power, and endurance — racing at the edge of possibility. Photos: @Rob Powell
